If you are a holder of an EU domain name. That's a domain ending in .eu - you will have been contacted by EURID - the .eu domain registry at some point at the start of October. So you should be aware of their policy to cancel all domains that are owned by UK registrants on the 1st of January 2021 as a result of the UK no longer being part of the EU. You have until the end of December to update your contact details if you are genuinely resident in the EU.

EURID contacted all affected registrants in October. If you are an EU domain holder and you did not see the Email they sent you for some reason, you may be in for a shock on the 1st of Jan next year, as your domain will be withdrawn. It's with this in mind that we wanted to post these details to ensure our customers are notified about what will happen.

Here are the details from the EURID website which contain all the info you should need...

First Brexit Notice

Second Brexit Notice

In short, the above explains that if you are not a resident of the EU, you will lose your domain on the 1st of Jan. If you can demonstrate that you are an EU resident or business, the registration will be allowed to continue.

If you are an EU resident or business, simply updating your contact details for the domain in your account here and making sure your correct EU address is used should be enough to ensure the continuance of your registration.

If you are not an EU registered business or resident of the EU, then we advise you to take steps to replace your .eu domain with something else before the 1st of January and to remove the auto renewal option on your domain so there is no attempt to renew it.

We will still continue to offer .eu domains, but customers should be aware that any attempt to register a .eu domain with details outside the EU will result in a failed registration.

If we can assist in any way regarding the above, as usual please feel free to give us a shout.
